8th Wonder Of The World

Zipaquira is located 49 kilometers of Bogota, Colombia. Zipaquira main attraction is the salt Cathedral located in the salt park, is a perfect location to see one of the most wonderful engineering work in the country, it is also an ideal place to renew or faith.

The old cathedral had to be closed for safety reasons and the new one was inaugurated in 1995 built 200 meters inside a salt mountain. Cathedral is entered by the tunnel and as path follow deeper underground to the main cathedral, visitor pass by 14 small illuminated chapels, stations of the cross, which represent the events of Jesus’ last journey. Each station has a cross and kneeling praying platforms carved in the salt. The main tunnel leads you to a balcony that overlooks the main body of the cathedral which is 75 m long by 25 m high and has a giant cross carved into the black wall.
