Spectacular Sand Pictures Left by Crabs

Shell hermits and soldier crabs in Australia and Malaysia have an astonishing way to build their homes. Since they live in the deep holes which they dig at sandy beaches, the crabs face the need to get rid of the sand they excavate. So they meticulously make sandballs and push them towards the surface, two or three at once. As more and more balls are moved up, some marvelous pictures get formed by those almost perfectly spherical sand lumps.
