The New Caledonian natives survive largely on the fish that they
catch themselves. To do this, they use a simple, spear fishing method
that has worked for hundreds of years. An angler simply stands on a
lookout or high rock armed with a long spear and then jumps into the
water to pierce the fish. Tourists are often amazed at their skill!
