The life of Dai Guohong was rather ordinary before 2008. He was 18 years old when he lost his both legs in the horrible Wenchuan earthquake. He didn’t give in, trained a lot and has now become one of China’s top swimmers.
The boy was desperate when he was noticed by a local disabled sports coach who encouraged the teenager to train as a Paralympics swimmer in Sichuan Province.
Back in 2008 Dai was buried along with his classmates under the school’s roof. He survived that quake; however doctors had to amputate his legs in order to save Dai’s life.
Dai spent up to 6 hours in the swimming pool every day. After training for 2 months, he participated in the National Disabled Swimming Championships and placed third in 100 meters backstroke.
The year of 2009 changed the boy’s life.

Coach expects Dai to take part in the Paralympics 2012 that will be held in London.
