Thousands of people gathered to join the march in their underwear in Salt Lake City in order to draw media attention to Mormon church, which is a fierce opponent of gay marriages and also the great fortress of conservatism.
The annual event called “Running in underwear in Utah,” encourages people to challenge the taboos concerning the gay community, but also other issues. “For years we hear Utah is boring, its inhabitants are too conservative and narrow-minded, it is time to change that, at least for one night,” says the website of the group that organizes this unusual gathering. Organizers estimate that at this year’s event were 3,000 people in their underwear.
