5 Most Notorious Serial Killers




This is a list of some of the most notorious serial killers from the past. As many may know a serial killer is a person who has murdered three or more people over a period of more than a month.

Most serial killers have very defined geographic areas of operation. They conduct their killings within comfort zones. It has been widely believed that once serial killers start killing, they cannot stop. There are, however, some serial killers who stop murdering altogether before being caught. These are people on whose list you wouldn’t have liked to be on.

1. John Wayne Gacy





John Wayne Gacy aka The Killer Clown was a father and a husband. However, he was a sentenced sex offender who got sentenced in 1968 to ten years in jail. He was released after 16 months due to good behavior. After he got out he remarried but later got divorced as his wife found out that he was gay. He used to dress as Pogo the Clown and volunteered at children’s’ parties. He was a beloved neighbor since no one would be afraid of a clown. During the six years he got out of jail and when he got arrested, Pogo killed 33 young men. He later buried most of them under his house.

He would lure young men into his home and them rape, torture and murder them. He was executed in 1994. While he was in prison he made oil paintings with clowns as a subject. After he was executed, some of his paintings were sold for $195- $9,500. Some people bought his painting in order to destroy them.



2. Jeffrey Dahmer





One of the scariest serial killers was certainly Jeffrey Dahmer. He murdered 17 young men and boys. His murders involved rape dismemberment, necrophilia and cannibalism. Some of his victims managed to escape but he got caught when one of his victims ran out into the street and managed to pull a police car. In his house they came to a horrifying discovery. They found that Dahmer was trying to make a mindless sex slave by drilling the brain of his victims while they were still alive. After they died he would rape them and eat pieces of his victims. In November 1994 he was baten to death by his fellow roommate.

3. Ted Bundy





Another deranged mind was the one of Ted Bundy. Like most serial killer he seemed to be a descent member of society. He was handsome, friendly and charismatic. However, he turned out to be a complete lunatic. At times he pretended to be disabled so that women would take pity on him. Sometimes he presented himself as an authoritative figure. Between 1974- 1978 Bundy murdered over 30 women although it is believed that this number exceeds 40 souls. HW used to break into his victims homes and kill them while they slept. Then he would rape and dismember them keeping a part of their bodies as a souvenir. He was electrocuted in 1989.

4. Aileen Wuornos





Aileen Wuornos was a female serial killer who killed at least seven men in the period between 1989- and 1990. Wuornos was a neglected and abused child who had a child at the age 15. She gave it for adoption. Later she was in an incestuous relationship with her brother. And finally she fell in love with a woman. She also earned money by being a prostitute and in those times she killed the 7 men she said were trying to harm her. She was killed by a lethal injection in 2002.

5. Richard Trenton Chase





Richard Trenton Chase got a nickname the Vampire of Sacramento because he drank blood of his victims and ate parts of their bodies. He killed six people in one month in the year 1977. He spent time in a mental hospital after being caught capturing small animals and devouring them raw, sometimes blending the corpses with Coca Cola in a blender to make a milkshake. After being released he killed six people, including two children. After killing them he would engage in sex with them and afterwards he would bathe in their blood and eat their internal organs. He got cough in 1979 after murdering an entire family. He was sentenced to death by gas chamber but killed himself with antidepressants he saved.
