Actor Gerard Butler was hospitalized as he struggled to conquer the waves at Mavericks, the infamous Northern California surf spot south of San Fransisco, while shooting Of Men and Mavericks.
He is not a professional surfer, and since the movie is about the best world’s surfers he surely shouldn’t have acted his way into big wave surfing. Take a look at the photographs that show how big Mavericks can really get.
Even on small days the inside at Maverick’s can push 10ft (3 meters) plus and really tear you up.
Butler was taken to the hospital, but a complete recovery is expected.
